Lead Systems Engineer

Job description

Drive technical alignment in complex delivery projects

The role of a Lead Systems Engineer is to create technical alignment across complex delivery projects, from stakeholder needs and system requirements to architecture, integration, verification, and final delivery.

At DIS/CREADIS, we are looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to lead the systems engineering effort on projects within defense, critical infrastructure, and advanced technology solutions. You will be responsible for ensuring alignment between customer needs, requirements, architecture, and technical implementation, while acting as the technical focal point throughout the project lifecycle.

This role is for someone who thrives on creating clarity in complex environments, driving technical decisions, and bringing together different disciplines around one common solution.

As part of a customer-facing engineering environment, you will work closely with colleagues, customers, and project teams across Denmark. Therefore, this role requires you to be based in Denmark.

Help create coherent and reliable system solutions

As a Lead Systems Engineer, you will be involved early in projects and play a key role in transforming customer needs into robust technical solutions.

You will act as the technical link between customers, project managers, suppliers, and development teams, ensuring that all stakeholders work toward the same objectives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and leading the systems engineering effort throughout the project lifecycle

  • Acting as the primary technical point of contact for customers and stakeholders

  • Clarifying stakeholder needs and translating them into system requirements

  • Driving requirements management, reviews, and release activities

  • Ensuring traceability between requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification

  • Maintaining overall system visibility across products, subsystems, and supplier deliveries

  • Defining and managing interfaces between systems and engineering disciplines

  • Driving technical decision-making and trade-off analyses

  • Coordinating technical activities across work packages

  • Supporting integration, verification, and validation activities

  • Acting as the technical authority during deliveries and customer acceptance activities

Your experience in systems engineering and technical leadership

You are motivated by understanding the bigger picture without losing sight of the details.

You enjoy working in complex environments, collaborating across disciplines, and providing technical direction even when requirements and assumptions evolve throughout the project.

We expect you to have experience with several of the following areas:

  • Systems Engineering

  • Requirements Engineering and requirements management

  • Stakeholder Management

  • System Architecture

  • Interface Management

  • System Integration

  • Verification & Validation

  • Technical Leadership

  • Cross-functional coordination

In addition, we expect that you:

  • Have a minimum of 8 years of experience from complex technical development projects

  • Have experience with software-intensive systems and multidisciplinary engineering environments

  • Can maintain technical overview and drive progress in complex projects

  • Hold an M.Sc. degree in Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline

  • Are fluent in English, both written and spoken

Experience with the following is considered an advantage:

  • Requirements management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, Jama, or similar solutions

  • MBSE and SysML

  • Risk & Decision Management

  • INCOSE principles and Systems Engineering practices

  • Defense, aerospace, critical infrastructure, or other mission-critical domains

Take technical ownership of complex solutions

You will not be responsible for a single component, discipline, or technology.

Instead, you will be responsible for the technical coherence of the complete solution and for ensuring alignment from customer needs through to final delivery.

At the same time, you will become part of an environment where collaboration, respect, and professional sparring are a natural part of everyday work. We work across disciplines to connect requirements, architecture, integration, and delivery, creating solutions that perform reliably in the real world.

Your success will depend on your ability to connect people, requirements, architecture, and technical execution across disciplines and organizational frameworks.

You will work closely with experienced specialists and engineers on projects where reliability, traceability, maintainability, and long-term system performance are critical.
